"If there are any indications of a crime, further investigations will be carried out," said the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office, Manuela Merkel, on Thursday when asked.

The police headquarters in the Hanseatic city had announced that police officers provided first aid after the wife called the apartment. After the condition deteriorated, the arrived emergency services had to resuscitate the man. However, these measures were reportedly unsuccessful.
