Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Justice skims 14.3 million euros in profits from criminal offenses

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's prosecutors skimmed off 14.3 million euros in profits from criminal offenses last year. That is almost twice as much as the year before with 7.9 million euros, said Minister of Justice Jacqueline Bernhardt (left) on Monday in Schwerin. Almost six million euros were passed on to private victims in 2021 to pay for their damage. Accordingly, 3.4 million went to damaged institutions such as social insurance. Another 5.1 million remained in the state treasury. Since a reform of asset recovery in 2017, injured parties have been able to claim compensation for damage more easily and free of charge.
