Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: "Land of Animals" wants to save and educate about animal welfare

The "Lebenshof", as the operators call the site in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim, has set itself the task of offering rescued animals as comfortable a life as possible. In addition, one wants to inform about the husbandry conditions in agriculture, among other things.

Vellahn (dpa / mv) - The "Land of Animals" in Vellahn (Ludwigslust-Parchim district) wants to give rescued animals a good life. Around 180 animals currently live on the approximately 13 hectare site. These come, for example, from livestock farming or from private individuals, as an employee of the donation-financed farm announced. Although the Tiernothilfe foundation is a non-profit organization, most of the foundation's capital was spent in 2014 on the acquisition of the former site of the GDR's National People's Army.

The operators reject the term "Gnadenhof", which is "nonsense", instead the term "Lebenshof" is preferred. According to the information, the facility is linked both to the goal of actively rescuing animals and, through public relations work, to creating awareness of the real living conditions of the animals - especially in an industrial context. This works best by telling the story of the animals that live on the farm. Guided tours of the grounds for kindergartens and school classes are therefore offered in summer, and there is also the opportunity for workshops in cooperation with the association "Mensch Tier Bildung".

According to the employee, the "land of animals" receives inquiries about the rescue of animals almost every day. Due to the limited capacities, however, it is not always possible to work.
