Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: level satisfied with crisis management in 2022

The corona pandemic, which flared up again as a result of the Omicron variant, and the war in Ukraine shaped the year 2022. From the Interior Minister's point of view, politics in the country has done well in managing the various crises.

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Against the background of the overlapping challenges posed by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, Interior Minister Christian Level (SPD) is satisfied with the crisis management in 2022. "Measured against the challenges that the state, districts and cities had in common, for example with the large number of Ukrainians seeking protection, we achieved a relatively good result," he told the German Press Agency. Level believes the country has learned from the experiences of the refugee movements in 2015 and 2016.

The time was also used wisely to minimize the residual risk of an energy shortage due to the failure of Russian gas supplies. "That's why it was an exciting year and completely different than planned," said level. According to the interior minister, by the end of 2021 it had been prepared that the corona pandemic would lose importance and that the government would turn to long-term issues again.
