Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Limited bus timetable due to lack of drivers

Rostock (dpa/mv) - From next week onwards, people in Rostock will have to prepare for failures and restrictions in bus traffic. The reason is that there were still no drivers, according to the Rostocker Strassenbahn AG (RSAG) website. The "Ostsee-Zeitung" had previously reported.

According to the information, bus line 27 between the main station and Schillingallee is no longer used, apart from morning school trips. Customers could largely switch to other lines. For lines 26 (between the main station and Biestow), 28 (between Holbeinplatz and the Südstadt campus) and 37 (between Warnemünde Werft and Diedrichshagen), the frequency will be reduced in some cases or additional trips on school days will be eliminated.

The reduced timetable will apply from Monday (February 20) until further notice. Restrictions already in place for tram line 2 and bus line 34 remain in place.

As justification, RSAG referred to an unusually high and long-lasting sick leave from the second quarter of last year, the third year of the corona pandemic. The staff worked a lot of overtime and gave up days off. In addition, there is talk of a hiring and training offensive in the driving service. The aim is to have around 400 drivers this year, which would be a record. RSAG is looking for interested parties.
