Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Minister of Health wants to expand the tele-emergency doctor offer

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Minister of Health Stefanie Drese (SPD) wants to expand the range of teleemergency doctors due to the increasing burden on the rescue service. "Tele emergency doctors in the emergency services can be part of the solution. Emergency doctor deployments have been reduced. This is shown by the evaluation of the model project in Western Pomerania-Greifswald," said the minister during a visit to the tele-emergency doctor center in Greifswald on Thursday. According to the information, the emergency physicians can connect via video both in the rescue vans and at the scene.

According to the Minister of Health, maintaining health care, especially in rural areas, will become an increasing challenge in the coming years. The existing offer has meanwhile been extended to the Vorpommern-Rügen district. "My goal is to establish the tele-emergency doctor in other regions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania," says Drese.
