Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Minister welcomes recommendation for second booster vaccination

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the recommendation for a second booster vaccination for people over the age of 60 meets with approval. "It's good that we can now rely on an adjusted, clear statement from the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) for our preparations for autumn and winter," said Health Minister Stefanie Drese on Friday in Schwerin. So far, the recommendation for another corona booster vaccination only applied to people over 70 and those who were previously ill.

Drese does not currently believe that a fourth vaccination for the general public is necessary. An exception here are employees in the health and care sector. However, the Minister of Health then knows that the time intervals should be observed: "For the second booster vaccination to be effective, the last vaccination or infection should be at least six months ago." According to the information, enough vaccine is available.
