Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Ministers and tourism professionals are looking for suggestions in Austria

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The state's leading tourism experts and Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer (SPD) are looking in Austria for suggestions for better tourism in the holiday region of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. A delegation of twelve is planning talks with politicians and tourism representatives in Tyrol and Lower Austria from Wednesday to Friday, as the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Schwerin announced on Tuesday.

Discussions are planned, among others, with the President of Lower Austria, Karl Wilfing, and with representatives of the state governments of Tyrol and Lower Austria. Meetings with representatives of Niederösterreich-Werbung GmbH and the management of the umbrella brand "Lebensraum Tirol" are also on the agenda.

Minister Meyer explained that Austria plays a pioneering role both in terms of the tourism product and its financing, and thus serves as an impetus for the holiday region of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The trip should give a boost to the country's tourism development. The participants included the tourism officer of the state government and managing director of the state tourism association, Tobias Woitendorf.

Meyer emphasized: "Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is an attractive holiday destination for its guests. In order for this to remain so in the future, we must continue to push tourism development in the state." In addition to the development of the tourism infrastructure, this also includes "new, diverse and exciting" offers for holidaymakers. At the same time, tourism must be adequately financed. There should be no bans on thinking, according to Meyer. Tyrol and Lower Austria have bravely and successfully walked this path.
