Ludwigslust (dpa/mv) - A motorcyclist in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district was seriously injured in a collision with a deer. As a police spokesman said on Thursday, the accident happened late Wednesday evening on Bundesstraße 5 near Ludwigslust. The 37-year-old motorcyclist fell in the dark and was taken to a clinic with serious injuries. The motorcycle was badly damaged and the deer died.
In the game-rich region between Mecklenburg and Brandenburg's Prignitz, an average of around 3,000 wildlife accidents occur each year, most of them involving deer. There are also collisions with wild boars, badgers, birds of prey and wolves, in which people are repeatedly injured. The animals usually change their territories at dusk in the morning and in the evening, but also in the dark.
