Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: MV is working on annual tickets for seniors

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Despite the agreement of the federal and state governments on a nationwide valid 49-euro ticket for local transport, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is continuing to work on the introduction of a 365-euro annual ticket for seniors. A spokesman for the Ministry of Economics said on Friday the German Press Agency. At the same time, he explained: "First of all, we will concentrate on introducing the Germany ticket in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania."

According to previous announcements, the 365-euro annual ticket for seniors should come in 2023 and be valid throughout Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on local buses and trains. Such a ticket already exists for trainees. According to the State Chancellery, 19.4 million euros have been set aside for both offers in the 2022/23 budget. A further 15.7 million euros are therefore earmarked for the introduction of a nationwide on-call bus system in order to better connect small towns. The federal states should also contribute to the cost of the nationwide 49-euro ticket.
