Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: MV reports the second best tourism year since reunification

Berlin/Rostock (dpa/mv) - The tourism industry in the north-east is clearly on the road to recovery after the severe turbulence of the corona pandemic. In 2022, 7.4 million guests were welcomed in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. That was an increase of 34.7 percent compared to the previous year, said the MV tourism association on Tuesday at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in Berlin. According to the State Statistical Office, the number of overnight stays increased by 19.6 percent to 31.8 million within a year. "Overall, we are moving back towards the pre-crisis level. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is recording the second-best result after the record values before the pandemic in 2019," said Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer (SPD).
