Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Nail belt stops ghost drive for around 100 kilometers

Pasewalk (dpa/mv) - At times more than 210 kilometers per hour, a wrong-way driver raced over the A20 on Sunday morning. Only after about 100 kilometers could police officers end the dangerous journey of the 37-year-old after they had guided the woman at the Grimmen junction via a detour onto a federal road. There, the officials used a nail belt and stopped the wrong-way driver, the police said. The woman was unharmed. It was initially unclear why the 37-year-old drove in the wrong direction on the autobahn near Pasewalk and why she ignored all stop signals and signs. The examination of the ability to drive did not show any evidence of impairment, the police said.
