Schwerin (dpa/mv) - According to the Ministry of Education, the number of students who successfully complete their training at a vocational school in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has increased in 2022. Minister Simone Oldenburg sees her policy confirmed: "Through the "Make strong and secure connection" action program, the students were prepared more intensively for the final exams," said the left-wing politician on Friday in Schwerin.

According to the information, in the school year 2021/22, 9,239 young people left the vocational schools in the state with a diploma, the total number of graduates was 11,243. In comparison, according to the ministry, the year 2020/21 closed out of a total of 11,265 young people only 9169 with certificate.

In addition to more intensive teaching units, Oldenburg also referred to the hiring of additional teachers and the efforts to take on trainee teachers if possible: "We have to do everything possible to find more additional teachers".

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that professional orientation had suffered during the pandemic. Since this is decisive for the successful completion of the course, more attention is currently being paid to it at school.
