Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Oldenburg: Pandemic also ended in schools

The winter holidays are over in MV, the new school year is starting. The new "post-corona normality" can also be felt in schools.

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Minister of Education Simone Oldenburg (left) was relieved that the corona-related restrictions in schools were no longer in force. The pandemic can now also be considered over for the school sector, she said with a view to the second half of the 2022/23 school year, which begins on Monday.

The challenges of the pandemic were mastered together after three years of a state of emergency. "Above all, I would like to thank all the teachers; they are and were an important guarantee of stability and orientation for the students in these uncertain times."

There is no longer a compulsory test for the school sector. But if you have cold symptoms, you should continue to test yourself at home, Oldenburg advised. Schools would continue to be equipped with self-tests for this purpose. In this way, they could effectively break chains of infection and ensure safety in everyday school life.

Masks are no longer compulsory. However, wearing the mask is still recommended during cold waves, in close contact with others indoors and if you have cold symptoms yourself. As before the pandemic, the principle applies: "If you are sick, stay at home."
