Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Parchim waives parking fees during the Christmas season

Parchim (dpa / mv) - Many cities are increasing parking fees to make driving into their centers unattractive. The district town of Parchim, which has around 20,000 inhabitants, is taking the opposite approach: it waives parking fees at Christmas time. Since Friday, drivers have not had to take a ticket from the parking machine, as the city administration announced. The machines will be taken down. However, a parking disc must be placed behind the windscreen. The campaign is intended to boost Christmas shopping in the city centre.
