Plau am See (dpa / mv) - A geriatric nurse fled in Karow near Plau am See (Ludwigslust-Parchim district) after she was said to have been threatened with a pistol by a patient in the house. The alarmed officers then visited the 84-year-old's home on Thursday, the police said. In the presence of the son, the officers gained access and found the man in the kitchen. He showed himself to be cooperative.

According to the police, four hunting rifles and a pistol were found in the man's house. The 84-year-old, according to the police a mentally handicapped man, had the appropriate gun ownership cards as a hunter. However, the weapons would be handed over to the weapons authority, it said. The man was charged with threats. The investigation should clarify to what extent his mental state could have played a role.
