Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Rostock FDP district board for Ebert as mayor candidate

Rostock (dpa / mv) - The board of directors of the Rostock FDP district association has clearly spoken out in favor of the director of the state riot police office, Michael Ebert, as a candidate for the mayoral election in Rostock. The decision was unanimous, said the deputy chairman of the Rostock FDP district association, Christoph Eisfeld, on Monday evening after a board meeting of the German Press Agency. The district association of the Liberals is to decide on the recommendation on August 19th.

The former head of the Rostock police inspection, Ebert, recently signaled his willingness to run and is being discussed as a joint candidate for the CDU and FDP. The CDU district board also wanted to deal with the mayoral election on Monday evening. A new mayor will be elected on November 13th in the largest city in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The Greens, SPD and probably also the Left are each sending women into the race for the top post in City Hall.
