Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Schwesig receives carol singers in the State Chancellery

On the occasion of the Epiphany Festival on Friday, the carol singers were guests of the regional head again this year. This solicited donations for the protection of children.

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig received the carol singers from the Catholic Edith Stein School in Ludwigslust on Thursday. "For me, the visit is a sign that something new is beginning. A new year with good resolutions, good wishes and hopes," said the SPD politician on Thursday in Schwerin. One hope is that there will soon be peace again.

With regard to the Dreikönigssingen fundraiser, which this year has the motto "Strengthen children, protect children - in Indonesia and worldwide", the head of state emphasized: "In all wars, it is the children who suffer particularly. And also where there is no war, children are affected by violence". She handed over donations to the carol singers, which, according to the information, were collected by the employees of the State Chancellery.

According to the State Chancellery, a total of around 40 million euros were collected last year during the campaign by the children's missionary group "Die Sternsinger". In addition to fundraising, you can also donate online.
