Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Schwesig: The number of people entitled to housing benefit will increase

Schwerin/Berlin (dpa/mv) - According to Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD), the north-east will benefit significantly from the Federal Council's decisions on citizen benefit, housing benefit and child benefit. "In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 21,600 households are currently entitled to housing benefit. After the housing benefit reform that we are discussing today, it could be more than three times as many," she said on Friday after the decision was made in Berlin. In addition, the housing benefit increases.

The head of government also praised the introduction of basic income with standard rates of up to 502 euros and the increase in child benefit to 250 euros per month as well as the increase in the child allowance and child allowance. "Families are more affected by rising prices than others. You can't just turn down the heating in the children's room," says Schwesig. According to her, covering basic needs accounts for a higher proportion of children's expenses.
