Rostock (dpa/mv) - After the surprisingly successful start in the basketball league with four wins in a row, the Rostock Seawolves now have to get used to defeats. A week after the 70:104 against defending champion Alba Berlin, the 86:97 (49:47) on Sunday against Brose Bamberg, who had previously lost five times and was also at the bottom of the table, must have been more painful. Especially since Seawolves coach Christian Held made no secret of the fact that it was a deserved win for the former series champion after the game: "Because they made the important plays in the fourth quarter in the decisive phase."
In front of 4468 spectators, the guests had already led by 14 points at the beginning of the second quarter. But the promoted team fought their way back up and shortly after the break was even ahead with 55:49 and 57:51. But then the game tipped again. "Some Bamberg players played really well. We could only control Bohacic and Sengfelder to a limited extent," admitted Held, adding: "In the end we weren't able to do much and couldn't keep up the intensity in the second half."
However, the Seawolves now have time due to the World Cup qualifying phase to find their way back to the form of the first few weeks. Only on November 19th will the team be challenged again at the Würzburg Baskets.
