Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Seniors want 1,500 euros to compensate for inflation

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The state senior assembly of the German civil servants' association in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is demanding inflation compensation of at least 1,500 euros this year for retired civil servants. The elderly felt let down by state and federal politics, it said in a statement on Wednesday. The approximately 6,500 pension recipients in the north-east were denied the payment of the corona premium of 1,300 euros in the spring with an emerging inflation rate of more than five percent.

All seniors - regardless of whether they are retired or retired - would be excluded from the energy relief payment of 300 euros. However, older people would also have to bear additional costs for heating and electricity. An increase in poverty in old age due to high back payments for operating costs is to be expected from the autumn. Added to this would be the price increases for daily shopping.
