Rostock (dpa/mv) - The seven-day incidence of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants rose above the 200 threshold again in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Thursday. As reported by the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus), the value rose by 26.7 to 215.9 compared to the previous day.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the nationwide incidence in the morning as 221.4. However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
Two more deaths linked to coronavirus infection have been reported in the North East, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 2,235.
The state office reported 511 new infections on Thursday. There were 10 patients in the intensive care units, one more than on Wednesday. The hospitalization incidence, i.e. the number of new corona patients admitted to hospitals per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, was given by the state office at 1.1.
Vaccination rates in the Northeast remain almost unchanged. According to the RKI, 74.3 percent of people have full basic protection after usually two injections. 57.9 percent of the population received a booster vaccination. 5.9 percent have now also received a second booster vaccination.
