Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Sick leave in MV at a high

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The ongoing corona pandemic and the sharp increase in colds at the end of the year have led to a peak in sick leave in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. As the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) announced on Thursday, citing its own data collection, statistically speaking, every insured worker has already been on sick leave for around 25 days in the course of the year to date. The previous maximum value for a whole year came from 2018, when an average of 20.1 sick days per employee was registered. In the past three years, the value had remained below 20 days.

As a spokesman for the Techniker Krankenkasse said, the health data of 99,000 employees insured with TK in the north-east were evaluated. The result gives a realistic picture of the situation in the state, since about every sixth employee in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is recorded.
