Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: SSC after a hard-fought win against Wiesbaden: "Stressful game"

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - There was great relief at the volleyball Bundesliga club SSC Palmberg Schwerin after the hard-fought 3: 0 (30:28, 25:23, 25:18) success against VC Wiesbaden. Unlike the victory in the quarter-finals of the cup four days earlier in Wiesbaden, where the Mecklenburg women had also won 3-0, the first home game for the SSC after five away games in a row should be a thriller. "Wiesbaden showed a completely different game today than on Saturday. There were incredibly good and great rallies. And you could see that both teams really threw themselves into each other's balls," commented coach Felix Koslowski on the outcome of the duel on Wednesday evening.

In contrast to the cup game, the coach had changed the starting formations to two positions. Player Pia Kästner conceded in this regard: "It was really a stressful game in the first two sets. You noticed that there was a little unrest when there were new players on the field. You're not quite as well-rehearsed as in the last few To play."

In the critical phases, however, the SSC showed nerves of steel. The Mecklenburg women had already clearly led in the first round, but then suddenly found themselves before the set loss after four wasted set balls. In the second section, the SSC also had to accept the equalization to 23:23 after taking the lead, but decided the round in their favor with the first set ball. She was proud of how the team solved it, Pia Kästner referred to the decisive phases of the game: "That we showed in the end, okay, this is our home, we don't want to lose any points there."
