Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: SSC coach praises the team: "Always keep the faith"

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Felix Koslowski is full of praise after the hard-fought victory of his volleyball players in the Bundesliga game at VfB 91 Suhl on Wednesday evening. "Those were three real big points. It's never easy to win here in Suhl. I'm just happy that when we're behind, we always believe that we can turn the set, that our momentum will come," said the coach. His team showed strong nerves several times at 3:1 (28:26, 20:25, 26:24, 27:25).

Apart from the clear outcome of the second set, it had been a rollercoaster of emotions for both teams over 117 minutes of play. In the three sets that were only decided in extra time, the SSC had the better end for themselves. In the first round, the Mecklenburg women gave up a clear lead and finally had to accept a set ball against them. The decisive fourth round was similarly dramatic. Schwerin was clearly behind and had two set balls against them. The team fended off both and used the first match point.

The fact that the SSC won its fourth of five games and is thus keeping up with the top of the table was not only attributed by Koslowski to the comeback qualities of his entire team. Because the ailing Libera and captain Anna Pogany were missing, the responsibility in defense lay primarily with Patricia Nestler. "The pressure on them was extremely high, you shouldn't underestimate that. You get all the serves, everyone tests you and you know exactly if I break away now, then it's over here," said Koslowski and emphasized: "I'm proud of you. In Suhl it's special to play in the extremely heated atmosphere."
