Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: State government hands over documents to subcommittee

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The state government has handed over further documents to the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (PUA) on the climate foundation MV. The package contains files from the Domea electronic file processing system for the approval and construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and the establishment of the foundation, the State Chancellery in Schwerin announced on Friday evening. In addition, among other things, e-mails, calendar entries and newsletters were viewed.

"The documents show that when presenting the foundation to the public and when making the state parliament decision, the state government clearly explained what tasks and possibilities the foundation has both in climate protection and in the completion of the Baltic Sea pipeline. Nobody was deceived there," explained Minister of the Interior Christian level (SPD), who in his capacity as Minister of Energy at the time oversaw the founding of the Climate Foundation.

According to the information, the data package has a volume of 68.6 gigabytes. According to the government spokesman, it also contains information that the PUA did not request, but which was included for reasons of transparency and completeness.

The CDU still sees little good will: "The state government needed a lot of time to provide the requested documents. Again the impression was created that Manuela Schwesig is neither interested in clarification nor transparency," said the CDU chairman in the committee, Sebastian Ehlers. He still sees many unanswered questions.

The committee of inquiry wants to clarify the background to the founding of the foundation. This is criticized for supporting the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. After the start of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the state parliament decided that it should be dissolved.
