Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: State regulation extended: mask requirement on the bus remains

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - Masks are still compulsory in local public transport and in hospitals and care facilities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. At its meeting in Schwerin on Tuesday, the state government extended the Corona state ordinance by a further four weeks. It is now valid until August 19, according to a spokesman for the Ministry of Social Affairs in Schwerin.

Basic protective measures to contain the pandemic are anchored in the regulation. In hospitals and care facilities, the 3G rule still applies to visitors - only those who have been vaccinated, recovered or tested have access. Masks must be worn in medical practices if vulnerable groups are at risk.

Regardless of the specific requirements, citizens are called upon to observe basic rules on distance, hygiene, respiratory protection and ventilation of rooms. “Everyone has their own responsibility to assess the personal risk of infection and that of contact persons,” says the regulation.

The State Office for Health and Social Affairs reported 2812 new corona infections in the country on Tuesday. At the peak of the last wave in March, there were up to 8,000 daily. However, the data is difficult to compare because significantly less is currently being tested.

According to the health department, there are currently 26 corona patients in an intensive care unit, in mid-March there were more than 100. The seven-day incidence in hospitalizations was currently 5.7, in mid-March it was more than twice as high.
