Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Strong increase in sales in construction

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The construction industry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania reports a strong increase in sales at the beginning of the year. In the first quarter, companies with at least 20 employees generated revenues of 356.5 million euros, as the state's statistical office announced on Thursday. In January, sales were 31.8 percent above the previous year's level, in February 75.2 percent and in March 20 percent. Incoming orders can give cause for optimism for the further course of the year: In January, the companies recorded 70.6 percent more new order volume than a year earlier, in February 11.3 percent and in March 7.5 percent. The number of employees in the companies in March was 3 percent above the previous year's level.
