Anklam (dpa/mv) - Before the start of this year's sugar beet campaign, the Anklam sugar factory is expecting a slightly above-average sugar yield. The company announced on Thursday that this was the result of tests. At 16.5 percent, the sugar content was found to be significantly higher than the five-year average. The beet yield is expected to be slightly lower than in previous years.
On September 13, the first truck should deliver beet, which will then be processed into thick juice, sugar and bioenergy. The factory had also been prepared for a possible gas shortage.
The Anklam sugar factory, founded in 1883, has been part of a Dutch group since 2009, which has been known as Cosun Beet Company GmbH since July 2020
