Rostock (dpa/mv) - There will not be a federal garden show in Rostock in its originally planned form in 2025. This is the result of a meeting of the Buga supervisory board on Tuesday evening in Rostock, as announced by Buga Rostock 2025 GmbH. A new study was presented there. This was created after an earlier demand by Agriculture Minister Till Backhaus (SPD), according to which the Buga had to take place in 2025 despite all the difficulties.
The new investigation confirmed the risk analysis presented at the beginning of April. After that, it is not possible to prepare the so-called Rostocker Oval along the Warnow until 2025 as the sole event area subject to admission, it said.
No information was given about an alternative to the previous plan. A joint declaration of intent is now required, which can still enable future implementation of the Buga for all parties. "The issue of the Federal Horticultural Show must now be further discussed and decided with the sponsors and in the decisive committees," said Mayor Claus Ruhe Madsen (independent).
