Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: The failure rate for final exams in 2022 has fallen

Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The number of failures in the final exams at schools has fallen this year. The grade point averages have also improved compared to 2021. In the subjects English, German and mathematics "we have hopefully overcome the free fall," said Minister of Education Simone Oldenburg (Die Linke) with a view to the preliminary results on Wednesday.

The proportion of students who did not pass the Abitur exam fell slightly compared to the previous year from 5.8 to 5.7 percent, and from 4.9 to 3.5 percent in the case of secondary school. One of the reasons given for the improvement is that the exam preparation compared to 2021 could already take place in person again. According to Oldenburg, however, an in-depth analysis can only be carried out on the basis of the final results.

The chairman of the State Parents' Council, Kay Czerwinski, was also satisfied: They had gotten into a crisis, "but for the most part we have learned sensible lessons from it and this is now the result of it".
