Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: The federal government takes over the Rostock shipyard site for the Navy

Rostock (dpa/mv) - This Monday, the federal government is taking over the former location of the MV shipyards in Rostock-Warnemünde for the navy as the new owner. According to earlier statements by the insolvency administrator of the MV Werften Group, Christoph Morgen, the clean-up work should then begin immediately. Among other things, there are still more than 17,000 tons of steel on the site, which have already been used for the cruise ship "Global 2".

The aim is for the naval arsenal to be able to repair the first ships of the navy there very quickly. In the relatively short term, 500 jobs are to be secured or created there.
