Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: The series of thefts in mobile homes continues

Greifswald (dpa/mv) - Another mobile home has been stolen in Western Pomerania. As a police spokesman said on Thursday, the theft happened early in the morning in Neuenkirchen near Greifswald. According to the owner, the white camping vehicle worth 44,000 euros was still on the street at his house at midnight, but had disappeared in the early morning. A wheel carrier is attached to the rear. The search is still ongoing.

In Western Pomerania, mobile homes and camping vehicles have been stolen again and again for months. Most recently, a brand new camping trailer disappeared from a dealer in Stralsund at the beginning of August.

Since 2021, more than 20 such vehicles with a total value of around one million euros have been stolen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. According to the State Criminal Police Office, the experiences indicated cross-border crime towards Eastern Europe. Motorhomes in particular are in greater demand than usual as a result of the corona pandemic and the associated restrictions and have become significantly more expensive for buyers.
