Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Third defeat: Seawolves in Bonn without a chance

Rostock (dpa/mv) - Basketball Bundesliga club Rostock Seawolves could not bring down the current leaders Telekom Baskets Bonn. On Friday, the newcomer lost to the leader 71:99 (54:33) and thus conceded the third defeat in a row. Bonn, on the other hand, left the field as the winner for the seventh time in a row. The best pitcher in head coach Christian Held's team was Tyler Nelson (19).

The Rostock team scored the first points and shortly afterwards took the lead again. At the end of the first quarter, however, the hosts managed to gain a seven-point lead. The favorites were also the dominant team in the second period despite a short catch-up race by the Seawolves and showed the Rostockers their limits on the defensive. The guests also had a poor hit rate with the threes, because only two out of ten attempts were successful.

The balance of power on the field did not change in the second round either. In the third quarter, the Seawolves' deficit increased to 29 points. In the final section, the Rostockers were no longer able to avert a significant defeat.
