Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Three injured in accidents in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

Greifswald/Basepohl (dpa/mv) - In two accidents in eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, three people were injured and four vehicles were badly damaged. The accidents occurred on Tuesday on Landesstraße 35 south of Greifswald and near Basepohl (Mecklenburg Lake District), as a police spokesman said on Wednesday.

On the L35 - the former federal highway 96 - a driver drove his car into another car that had stopped to turn left towards Kammin. The 55-year-old who caused the accident drove his car into the opposite lane and collided with a third car that was coming towards him. Two occupants of the three vehicles were injured. The busy road was closed in both directions for the rescue.

Almost at the same time, a car driver is said to have pushed a moped driver off in a curve near Basepohl. The 16-year-old dodged the car, but lost his balance and crashed his light motorcycle into a tree. The teenager was seriously injured and the moped was destroyed. The 75-year-old driver is being investigated on suspicion of negligent bodily harm.
