Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Tourists want to attract more Hamburgers to the north-east

Hamburg/Schwerin (dpa/mv) - The tourism industry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania wants to attract more Hamburg residents to the north-east. The interest in the Hanseatic city in holidays in the north-east is above average compared to Germany. This is the result of figures presented by the tourism officer for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Tobias Woitendorf, on Thursday at a meeting in Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie. At the same time, this potential is exploited below average compared to Germany.

According to the State Tourism Association (TMV), the underlying survey did not ask for reasons. According to the figures, more than half of the Hamburg residents surveyed can imagine vacationing in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the next three years. However, only about 30 percent of those interested had actually visited the federal state on the Baltic Sea in the past three years.

The meeting in a restaurant in the Elbphilharmonie with a subsequent sailing trip on the Elbe should also promote Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as a holiday destination, according to the TMV.
