Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Transport association: cooperation paper signed

Schwerin (dpa/mv) - By signing a cooperation agreement, the districts in West Mecklenburg have promoted the creation of a joint transport association. "A common tariff and even better coordinated offers from the transport companies will bring many advantages to passengers in the West Mecklenburg region in the future," said Economics Minister Reinhard Meyer (SPD) after the signing on Monday in Schwerin. In addition to synergy effects between transport companies and authorities, he is hoping for more attractiveness for buses and trains as well as better integration and utilization of the offers.

The state government is supporting the project with 422,300 euros, plus a further 150,000 euros in funding. According to the information, the own contribution for the state capital and the districts of Ludwigslust-Parchim and Northwest Mecklenburg amounts to 29,900 euros each.

However, it could still be a while before citizens can look forward to a joint ticket. It is the ambitious goal to start with the transport association at the end of 2024, it said. The district of Northwest Mecklenburg is in charge of the project.
