Sternberg (dpa/mv) - When trying to take photos of a frozen lake, two men broke into the thin ice near Dabel (Ludwigslust-Parchim district) on Sunday. As the police also announced in the evening, a third person had tried to pull the men out of the water, but this was unsuccessful. When the alarmed rescue workers arrived, the men were already severely hypothermic. They were taken to a hospital, the situation of one of the two is assessed as life-threatening.
The accident happened on Lake Holzendorf. The police could not provide any information on the origin and age of the men. After days of frost, above zero degrees and rain had recently caused the ice cover of the lakes to shrink again, so that entering it is considered life-threatening.
