Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Two tractors rediscovered after theft

Ferdinandshof/Hintersee (dpa/mv) - Wrong escape route: Two tractors stolen on Friday near Ferdinandshof (Vorpommern-Greifswald district) were secured by the police on the same day. The officers tracked down the tractors equipped with GPS transmitters near Hintersee, about 40 kilometers away, just before the Polish border, where the thieves had apparently got stuck, the police said on Friday.

The officials had searched for the tractors with several patrol cars, service dogs and a police helicopter. The vehicles were stuck deep in the mud and water, but are still operational and can be returned to their owners. The perpetrators were initially able to escape, but they were searched for on the German and Polish sides of the border.
