Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: vacationer injured in a café: search for an e-wheelchair user

Binz (dpa/mv) - The police in Western Pomerania are dealing with an unusual accident in a café in Binz on the island of Rügen. As a Stralsund police spokeswoman said on Wednesday, a woman is being searched for who drove into the bakery with an electric ambulance, knocked over a heavy table and injured an 81-year-old holidaymaker from Bavaria. The case happened on February 22 without the police being alerted. The incident - as well as the severity of the injuries, because the injured person suffered broken ribs - only became known later.

According to previous investigations, the wanted driver of the electric wheelchair is said to have been traveling with a second woman, also with an electric wheelchair. The accident driver drove straight to the café and her friend walked in. After the incident, both women disappeared again. The injured later presented to a doctor who is said to have diagnosed broken ribs.

The perpetrator is being investigated for negligent bodily harm. She is said to be between 70 and 80 years old and to have driven a bright red electric wheelchair.
