"The challenge is currently the increased number of patients with a simultaneously lower number of staff," it said. The current wave of respiratory diseases does not appear to have peaked yet. A relaxation is not expected until the new year at the earliest.
The high level of sick leave among the clinic staff leads to the other colleagues being overburdened and to failures. "The employees in the health facilities are exposed to great demands and repeatedly make an incredible effort at the stress limit and beyond," District Administrator Stefan Kerth (SPD) was quoted as saying.
With a meeting of representatives of the district, the hospitals and the rescue service at the beginning of the week, the interaction should be improved in order to continue to ensure the security of supply throughout the district.
