Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: woman saves young people on Rügen: dies in the clinic

Mönchgut (dpa/mv) - After she and another helper rescued two young people from the water, a woman got into trouble herself at a lido and later died in the hospital. According to the police, the 57-year-old went into the water on Friday evening in the Baltic Sea resort of Thiessow in Mönchgut (Vorpommern-Rügen district) to help the two young people who were in mortal danger because of the strong waves. Together with the other helper, she managed to save the two.

The 57-year-old then got into trouble herself and was no longer able to reach the shore on her own. Two beach visitors rushed to her aid and rescued the now lifeless woman from the water. They immediately began resuscitation, which was then successfully continued by the rescue workers who arrived. They took the woman to a hospital, where she died a short time later.
