Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: woman stabbed: prosecutor checks arrest warrant for husband

Barth (dpa / mv) - One day after the violent death of a woman in Barth (West Pomerania-Rügen), a decision should be made on an arrest warrant against the suspect. As a police spokesman said on Thursday, a judge at the Stralsund district court would have to decide on a corresponding application for detention by the public prosecutor. The 42-year-old suspect is to be presented there. The Moroccan man is accused of stabbing his 38-year-old wife to death in a shelter for asylum seekers in the small town on Wednesday.

Witnesses called the police on Wednesday because the man had walked through the city with blood on his clothes. Investigations later revealed that it was the victim's husband. He was arrested. The act of violence is said to have occurred in a room belonging to the family in the accommodation in Barth. The motive is still unclear, it said. The family has three children, but they are said to have been in children's institutions. They were looked after by the youth welfare office, it said.
