The Metropolitan Police charged a special constable with rape.

Paul Hoile (40), will appear in Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday to face four charges, including one for anal rape, and two for oral rape.

These charges are related to an incident that occurred in Shropshire on Tuesday, 5 July.

Although police said that there was no danger to the public, patrols in the area have been increased.

At 22:30 on Wednesday, Mr Hoile was taken into custody in Benfleet.

The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards has informed him that he has been suspended and has referred the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct by West Mercia Police as well as the Metropolitan Police.
