MotoGP. Quartararo extends Yamaha contract until 2024

Frenchman Fabio Quartararo is the reigning MotoGP World Champion and has signed two more seasons with Yamaha.

After learning his skills with Yamaha-SRT satellite, the Nice-born 23-year old joined the official Japanese manufacturer's team in 2021. He replaced Valentino Rossi, and won the title.

"Yamaha believed that I was right from the beginning, and that's something that I take seriously. This new agreement was a significant decision. "I am at an important point in my career, so it took me a bit longer to make this decision to be certain," said the driver. He was quoted in a press release by his team on the sidelines Catalan GP. This weekend, he was in action.

Quartararo was uncertain if he would leave or stay with the Japanese company. He had earlier indicated that he wanted to "study the market well" in order to plan for next season.

In recent months, the Frenchman recalls that his Yamaha has suffered from a severe speed deficit in straight lines. He had asked his team to correct this situation.

He explained that he pushes Yamaha a lot to make improvements, and to keep up with the rest of the world, as AFP reported in April.

"With Fabio, we know that he will always give of his best and we have assured Yamaha that Yamaha will do so too. We will also invest in future development so that we can all fight for the championship titles together. MotoGP World in the Years to Come, "promised Fabio on Thursday.
