After being cut by the tide, a family of four was lifted by helicopter from the cliff's base.

Two adults and two children were trapped at Nash Point in the Vale of Glamorgan. A rescue operation was launched.

The crew helped the family board the helicopter from the nearby RAF St Athan and then whisked them to the fields.

Milford Haven coastguard also sent lifeboats of the RNLI from Porthcawl, and Llantwit Major.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service sent a team from Bridgend and rope rescue crews from Barry and Newport.

After being examined by paramedics, the family was able to continue their journey.

The incident lasted approximately an hour and a quarter on Friday evening.
