Emergency services reported that a huge boulder fell from the Marmolada glacier, northern Italian Alps. It killed at least five people and injured eight others.
Michela Canova, a relief spokeswoman, stated that five people had been found dead. Eight others were also reported as injured to give a "still provisional assessment".
