Next trial in London: pressure on Kevin Spacey is growing

Kevin Spacey can only breathe a sigh of relief because a court in New York has acquitted him. But now he has to face the public prosecutor again soon in London. He denied the first allegations in the summer, now there are seven more cases.

Kevin Spacey is due to appear in court in London next year on sexual assault charges. As "The Guardian" reports, the British public prosecutor's office has now expanded their charges against the two-time Oscar winner. Accordingly, the actor is accused of seven other sexual assaults against a man, including coercion to sexual activity.

These incidents are believed to have happened between 2001 and 2004. Spacey is already facing criminal charges for sexual assault charges that allegedly took place in London in March 2005 and August 2008, and in Gloucestershire in April 2013. According to The Guardian, the extension of the charge that has now taken place is due to a review of the evidence by the Metropolitan Police. Spacey appeared in court in London in July and pleaded not guilty to the charges against him at the time.

In another case in the USA, the fallen Hollywood star was able to record a legal victory at the end of October. His 51-year-old fellow actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of sexually molesting him in 1986 when Rapp was just 14 years old. Rapp's allegations, which were made public for the first time in the course of the MeToo debate in 2017, had led to many other allegations and shaken Spacey's career. Even now, Anthony Rapp is not thinking about giving up, he wants to keep fighting. "When filing this lawsuit, it was always about being part of the big movement against all forms of sexual violence, to set an example," it said in a statement.

The former series star Spacey has to pay around 31 million US dollars to the production company of the series "House of Cards" for breach of contract. He said he violated the production company's sexual harassment policy during the production of the Netflix series.

After the acquittal in New York, Spacey's team was still optimistic. The jury's decision offers an outlook on how the allegations against the actor will continue overall, his defense attorney Jennifer Keller said.
