North Rhine-Westphalia: 1. FC Köln hopes for an easy draw in the Conference League

Cologne (dpa / lnw) - On Tuesday, the eyes at 1. FC Köln will be on the draw for the play-off pairings (2 p.m.) in the football conference league. There are eight potential opponents for the Bundesliga side's first international appearance since 2017/18. FC will look to one of the four winners from the duels FC Lugano (Switzerland) - Hapoel Beer Sheva (Israel), Fehervar FC (Hungary) - Petrocub Hincesti (Moldova), Spartak Trnava (Slovakia) - Rakow Czestochowa (Poland) and Levski Sofia (Bulgaria) - Hamrun Spartans (Malta) score.

The play-offs will be played in a first and second leg on August 18th and 25th. The winner advances to the group stage, which begins on September 8th and consists of a total of eight groups, each made up of four teams. A success in the play-off pairings would be worthwhile for the people of Cologne. Last season, UEFA distributed €2.8 million to each participant in the group stage. For every win in the six games of the group stage there was another 500,000 euros, a draw brought in 166,000 euros. TV income and proceeds from ticket sales for the home games were added to this.
