North Rhine-Westphalia: 16-year-old dies in a swimming accident

Simmerath (dpa / lnw) - A 16-year-old boy went down in a bathing lake in Simmerath (Aachen region) and died. The teenager, accompanied by a ten-year-old, jumped into the water in the Rurberg district on Saturday afternoon, a police spokesman said. Both were apparently non-swimmers and threatened to sink. According to the spokesman, first responders managed to save the younger child. The 16-year-old was rescued lifeless from the water two hours later by divers.
